drawing classes are coming to an end at the end of next month..

our skills are slowly being honed towards drawing the human figure.. its been a hand, or a foot.. then hair, then the face..

last week it was a plaster cast of the upper body.

tonight’s drawing class was all about the foot..

we did about 10 sketches of the foot, and the only angle i had any clue about was this one.. from underneath.. the sole..

i don’t understand why…

this was our first week back at drawing class after a 3 week break..

part of the art class is life drawing.. when Jane (the teacher) said this week we will be doing Bear Models, i thought this was the week for nudes.. but i guess i heard wrong..

our first drawing on the night was of a rock, sea sponge, and a coconut.. this was the second… two bears.. i big white one, and small brown one..

this weeks lesson was tone drawings.. firstly we had to practice the art of shading from dark to light..

to do that we attempted to gray scale with 11 steps..

secondly we had a black and white photo of an apple with a dark background.. the light shone on the top left of the apple, while the bottom right blended in to the background.. i it quite hard to get that gradual shading from black to very light gray, and white in some of the droplets of water on the apple..

yes yes i know what your saying, there are no water droplets.. i need to practice more..
