Traveling along the friendship highway from Lhasa to Mt Everest we happened apon this piece of pristine wilderness, Yamdrok-Tso lake. Its known for its rich turquoise coloured waters.
Anyways a broken down truck was holding up travels and forced an unscheduled 2 hour wait. We got to having a few drinks, and the 2 hours went fast. So fast I left behind the bottle of blue Vok we were drinking at the time. Two days later, I saw this photo in the Yamdrok-Tso local rag with title… “who stole the turquoise”. I feel really bad, so i’m heading back later this year with a bottle of midori, hopefully to right some wrongs, and give the people of Yamdrok-Tso their lake back.
Hey, did you see the rest of my photo’s at flickr.
